This examination is ideal for all non technical personnel employed within the Distilling Industry in a technical or production role and those working in sales, marketing, HR, and finance who would benefit from background knowledge in beer production. Entry to the fundamental of brewing and beverage packaging and general certificate examinations is open to all applicants.
All these qualifications are examined by multiple choice questions, either on-line (currently available for GCB, GCD and GCP) or by paper exams.
The pass marks are set at 66% (40 correct answers from 60 questions for GC exams; 33 out of 50 for FDPS). Candidates attaining 90% or more achieve a Distinction pass and 80 - 89% achieves a Credit pass.
The IBD runs a training course for the fundamentals of distilling & beverage packaging in October 2011. The course is a one week residential course covering the fundamentals of distilling and beverage packaging, and includes technical visits and hands on practical work.
