Our mission is to enlighten, educate and enthuse candidates about all aspects of beer. Established in October 2003 as an independent educational trust the Beer Academy became an operating arm of the IBD in 2007. Delegates come from a wide and diverse set of backgrounds including retailers, hospitality staff, brewery employees and enthusiastic consumers. Brewers and pub companies large and small use the Beer Academy for staff training and development. We offer a series of courses delivered (all can be tailored) by our team of experienced and knowledgeable tutors - all of whom have a real passion for beer! The courses range from our very popular 90 Minute tastings, Beer & Food Matching Course, the One day Foundation Course, the Two day Advanced Course and the half day 'How to Judge Beer Course'. Our Beer Academy Sommelier scheme, has immediately proved to be highly popular and offers recognition of a depth of knowledge of beer styles and beer and food matching for successful candidates.
