Welcome to the Institute of Brewing & Distilling

Pankaj Bharne

How long have you been working in the industry? Working since 1999 close to 10 years where I worked three different groups in India and 5 brewing units SAB is the current and UB previous. I worked as Shift brewer looking after brewhouse/fermentations/maturations/filtrations/ and now looking after Quality assurance Department as in charge. In current role responsible for quality assurance activity of the product, managing the quality assurance department of the brewery Why did you choose to work in the brewing/distilling industry? I studied M.Sc. Microbiology and was keen to work in fermentation industry. Got a chance to work with Pharmacy industry but did not enjoy the job and mean time got opportunity to work with local brewer in Maharastra (India) as a trainee brewer and became shift brewer after. Where I enjoyed brewing and stayed in the profession. Now I am Dip. Brewer IBD London with first two modules passed and appearing for the third next session. What do you enjoy the most about your job? What I enjoy: I enjoy my job as a whole; I have taken 2 different roles in brewing industry brewing and quality. Enjoyed both roles. Tasting good beer is great fun and enjoyment to me. Kind Regards, Pankaj Bharne
