It supplies malt and other ingredients to breweries and distilleries globally, including to Japan, and to craft brewers and distillers in the USA. Crisp has grown profitably over the last decade, and invested in additional malting capacity, barley storage, and the modernisation of existing plants. Crisp, run from a small office in North Norfolk, is the largest subsidiary of Anglia Maltings (Holdings) Ltd, a privately-held investment company.
  • The Managing Director will lead customer relationships both in the UK and internationally, and be responsible for overall financial performance and operations. He or she will be a strategic thinker capable of leading sector consolidation, yet a hands-on manager with strong team spirit and a record of delivering results. The Managing Director will report to the board of Anglia Maltings and also be a main board director. He or she will be expected to live in East Anglia.

Job Role:
Production management: 
Experienced in identifying and realising efficiency savings and third party contract production. To lead continuous improvement and drive overall operating efficiencies. Ensure the most responsive and environmentally sustainable end to end operation from raw materials through to customer.
Product and Packaging quality: Championing an unerring focus on product quality. Ensuring that own and contract products are packaged to the highest standards including full compliance with various external audit systems. Owner of the packaging quality systems including HACCP and ensuring all team members are fully conversant with these and trained to high standards.

Procurement and material management: 
To work with internal procurement teams on supplier compliance, contractual reviews and tenders. A comprehensive knowledge of packaging material quality (glass, crowns, paper (labels), card working with the material supply team on the management of material conformance and quality. Working with the NPD team to ensure delivery of projects on time.

People management:   
Experienced line manager with broad experience of recruitment and selection. Passionate about motivating, mentoring, training, and developing teams.

Health & Safety:
Conversant with and wholly supportive of all aspects of H&S legislation and personal and team responsibilities and ensuring that it continues to be embedded as a core value of how Production operates.

Strategic Analysis:   
Skilled in identifying areas of underperformance and inefficiency. To develop and contribute to strategic plans which includes devising and implementing measures to improve profitability and performance.

Relationship management:

Financial:

Ideal Candidate:

The ICBD (www.icbd.hw.ac.uk) sits within the School of Life Sciences, and is a unique teaching and research facility. The Centre is based on a partnership between industry and academics, and is located on the Riccarton campus of Heriot-Watt University, near Edinburgh.

We are the only organisation in the UK to offer both Honours and Masters degrees in Brewing and Distilling. As such, we not only supply the industry with new graduates, but with services, expertise and facilities consistent with the standards required in the local, national, and international markets. We offer a variety of courses both on campus and by distance learning, while short courses and workshops are catered for on request.

We have just celebrated 25 years since the inception of ICBD, and currently have over 100 students from all over the world studying on-campus. A further 100 students are enrolled in our distance learning programme.

We are now looking for an additional Assistant Professor or Professor to join the Centre, to not only teach and support students, but to contribute to both the direction and the research profile of the Centre.

We want you to identify and develop your own research agenda, win funding for your proposals, and deliver high-impact research findings through recognised industry-leading journals and conferences. You will also be responsible for delivery of a brewing and distilling teaching programme, as well as supervising PhD students.

You will also be representing the Centre externally at both conferences and in regular meetings with our external partners and industrial contacts, to enhance the profile of the Centre.
Finally, as a key member of the Centre, we want you to contribute to our strategic direction through sharing your knowledge and experience, as we continue to grow our international reputation as a centre of excellence in our field.

Leading and managing the production function of Sharp's Brewery, ensuring continuous

We're looking for a highly motivated senior brewer with a can-do attitude and a hands-on approach to leadership to join our team and assist in implementing all aspects of the brewing process. In this role you will work closely with our head brewer and production manager to ensure epic craft beers are brewed according to our strict specifications in good time. . In this role you will work as part of a small team of 5-6 brewers on a rotational 3 shift pattern 5 days a week, 24 hours a day. As a shift lead, you will oversee all brewing matters from production through to quality control and packaging, leading by example as you educate and inspire your team members to brew supreme craft beers. Quite frankly, brewing isn't just your job, it's your passion. You will be adept at technical recipe design and development as well as proficient in brew house, cold block, yeast, and filtration management.

At BrewDog we're constantly brainstorming new brewing horizons, so we're looking for a senior brewer who is a natural innovator and possesses all the charm and panache to be a perfect ambassador for our brewery. You will be an open and honest communicator, good at building relationships with our suppliers to ensure the timely and cost effective procurement of relevant raw materials. You will be responsible for managing brewery shifts, co-ordinating the activities of assistant brewers and liaising with your colleagues in our packaging and lab departments as required to ensure that the quality of our beer is testament to our commitment to putting craftsmanship and flavour back into peoples' beer glasses. You will have experience in supervisory roles, be a brilliant team player and a natural facilitator, capable of overseeing all process brewing, from fermentation through to maturation and filtration.

Responsibilities
Running a small team of 5-6 brewers on a single shift, coordinating their activities as required by production schedules to meet brewery targets.
Overseeing all aspects of process brewing, from fermentation to maturation and filtration, documenting relevant data and ensuring this information is shared and communicated to the necessary stakeholders on subsequent shifts or in the lab or packaging departments.
Shift hand over, passing over all necessary information to the next senior brewer and brewing shift team to ensure a smooth transition between shifts.
New product design and development and being an ambassador for the brewery.
Liaising with staff in our packaging and lab departments to ensure the quality and consistency of our beers, troubleshooting and remedying problems should they arise.
Working directly with senior production and brewery staff to improve on efficiencies and ensure the quality and craftsmanship of our beers.

Experience
University degree in Chemistry, Brewing, Distilling or another relevant field.
Minimum one years' experience in a supervisory position in a brewery or fast paced beverage environment.
A track record of good team management, communication and staff training abilities.
