Role: Technical Brewer
Company: Muntons plc
Location: Stowmarket, Suffolk
Salary: Salary dependent on skills and experience

Based in Stowmarket, Suffolk, Muntons plc are world-class manufacturers of malt and malted ingredients for the brewing and food industries.

We are looking to recruit a Technical Brewer to join the successful production team at our liquidmalt extract production plant. Reporting to the Production Manager and working in a modern mash filter brewhouse the role will include:

- Optimisation of the Brewing Process
- Scoping and implementation of improvements to the Production Process
- Reduction in production losses and effluent production
- Updating and maintaining existing production documentation systems
- Driving quality improvements in Malt Extract and Brewers Grains

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent with a proven track record in a brewing environment.

Role: Packaging Team Leader
Company: Wells & Young's Brewing Company Ltd

Wells & Young's Brewing Company Ltd is the largest privately owned brewery in the UK, and is a leader in specialist beers both cask ale and premium lager. Our portfolio of famous brands includes Wells Bombardier, Young's Bitter, Red Stripe, Kirin Ichiban and the Courage brands, Wells & Young's is a major force in the UK brewing industry.

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Team Leader to join our packaging production department. This role covers the day-to-day management of bottle, can and keg filling operations with responsibility for all aspects of team management, output & cost performance, quality standards and maintenance coordination.

Experience in the three packaging areas preferable, particularly with respect to kegging. You will implement process improvements, manage the flow of information within the department and set and monitor performance targets. A natural leader, you will use your drive, enthusiasm and positive attitude to motivate your team to meet production targets and deliver exceptional results. Ultimately you will encourage a positive team environment.

This position is on a shift basis including nights, normally 5 days per week, based in Bedford.

Role: Senior Policy Adviser (Brewing)
Company: The British Beer & Pub Association
Location: London
Salary: £28,000 to £40,000, plus benefits. Salary dependent on skills and experience.
Closing Date: 5 February 2010.

The British Beer & Pub Association, the leading trade association representing the interests of the brewing and pub sectors, is seeking a Senior Policy Adviser to work in the Brewing Department. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop and deliver the Association's policy programme particularly in the areas of product assurance, alcohol misuse and supply chain issues. Key responsibilities will include:

- Development of the Association's policies with particular reference to alcohol misuse, food safety, quality and beer duty operations
- Co-ordination of the Association's response to public consultations on these subjects
- Production of best practice guidance on key industry issues and monitor implementation
- Lobbying on behalf of the industry at UK Government and EU level.
- Building and maintaining working relationships with relevant trade bodies and external stakeholders
- Supporting committees and working groups, preparing agendas, discussion papers, building consensus, producing minutes and follow-up paper work.

Working in a busy department, you will need to be a team player, an excellent communicator, efficient, with initiative, a positive "can do" attitude and a sense of humour. A scientific background with knowledge of alcoholic drinks production and distribution, ideally gained within the brewing industry is highly desirable, as is a passion for beer. High levels of numeracy and literacy are important as are strong networking, diplomacy and interpersonal skills. Understanding of Government structures and experience in policy development would be a real advantage.

Role: Policy & Information Officer
Company: The British Beer & Pub Association
Location: London
Salary: £22,000 to £26,000 plus benefits. Salary dependent on skills and experience.
Closing Date: 5 February 2010.

The British Beer & Pub Association, the leading trade association representing the interests of the brewing and pub sectors, is seeking a Policy and Information Officer to work in the Brewing Department. You will provide support in policy development, statistical and other information and administrative services to the brewing team. Duties will include:

- Supporting the brewing team in policy development on key issues
- Administration of regular member surveys
- Data entry and analysis of large amounts of data and information
- Assisting with the development of BBPA publications, guidance and consultation responses
- Preparing meeting papers and minute taking
- Maintaining and updating the brewing pages on BBPA's website
- Management of department filing systems and statistical database
- Arranging UK and international travel
- Liaising with member companies and dealing with other external queries
Working in a busy department, you will need to be a team player, highly numerate, efficient, with initiative and a positive "can do" attitude. The post would suit a graduate, ideally with a degree containing a statistical element. An interest in the beer and pub industry is essential, along with good interpersonal and written skills. Excellent IT skills and an attention to detail are a must, as is lots of enthusiasm and a sense of humour. Understanding of Government structures would be helpful.
