Letter from the Webmaster

Hi Everyone,

This is my first open letter to our audience. In it I'd like to ask your opinions (as well as giving some of my own)

Firstly I hope that the web site is delivering at least part of what you want. If it isn't then PLEASE tell us. When you do let us know what you would like to see (or what you think can be dumped) You can e-mail Dan Cannas by clicking here.

We have had some reports that the web site is not exciting enough. OK, so what would you guys/girls like to see? We can do most anything technical but you have to tell us what you want. A comment like "it's not exciting" means very little to us, please be specific. Constructive ideas are always welcome. (But don't forget that this is supposed to be a serious learned society web site)

While we are on the subject of content, can I make an appeal to all the section secretaries for regular information about activities. The web space is here and waiting but most sections' content (after 3 years) is still "zilch". It really would improve the site if members knew that they could look here for all the sections' news and activities.

There is also a Forum area which is rarely used. Why not try it out for answers to your IBD questions (or even general brewing questions). Again it needs users to generate success.

What else? I would suggest more technical articles. This happens occasionally but it's in fits and starts. (That's an IBD problem re. continuity which has to be addressed). But, are such articles useful? I think so but what do YOU think?

What about true on-line learning (and I mean real interactive stuff...searchable material, active Fora, chat rooms etc) Would it be useful? Who will pay?

Send all comments to me

Finally a request from a member who is trying to make contact with an old colleague.

"Does anyone know the whereabouts of Roger Walkey, formerly of The Mendip Brewery and before that with Courage Bristol.  If so could you email me at Markawallington@aol.com or ask him to do so?  Most grateful.

Mark Wallington"

All the best for now

Webmaster
