Welcome to the Institute of Brewing & Distilling

Overview

This forum is targeted at engaging both the Brewing and Distilling industry's supply chains from suppliers to customers.

In order to serve the members the group needs your support by suggesting possible discussion subjects plus offering to help in these discussions. It has been suggested that such a topic is a possible international approach to carbon footprint labelling. Most group meetings will be held electronically in order to enable efficient international engagement.

This web page is being developed as a portal to provide IBD members with easy access to environmental and sustainability issues.

UN World Environment Day - Your Help and Support is Requested

The 5th June and World Environment Day is almost upon us! If you have not already done so could you please send me an email to me via environment@ibd.org.uk with details of both the initiatives that have been made by your organisation plus your efforts outside of work to reduce the use of non sustainable resources including energy and water? Could you please email me with details of these changes no matter how small?.

The 5th June 2010 will be UN World Environment day. The proposal is for the IBD to be in a position to announce on that day a summary and highlights of the efforts made by its members and their companies and organisations to reduce the use of non sustainable resources including energy and water. This can range from small changes and actions through to significant capital investments and policy changes.

The objective is not only to indicate the overall impact of these activities but also to summarise the possible actions that both companies and individuals can take to provide best practice ideas as possible suggestions for others to follow. Company changes can either be attributed or not attributed to the company according to your wishes.

Changes could include actions to reduce carbon footprints, reduce use of water or other resources through to recovery and recycling, use of renewable energy and reductions in landfill.

Any changes no matter how small can be included. The key issue is to show that we care and are committed both at home and at work. Please email me at environment@ibd.org.uk to show that you care? Your engagement with this is much appreciated.

Thankyou for your help.
