The Institute of Brewing & Distilling offers the following categories of membership:
Fellow
Fellowship is the highest membership grade of the IBD. Fellows are nominated and will be distinguished IBD members with substantial experience and responsibility in the field of brewing, fermentation, distilling or associated activities. They are likely to have shown dedicated service to the IBD and associated industries over a number of years. Fellows may use the post nominals FIBD.

Honorary Member/Honorary Fellow
Available to persons determined through Council, according to merit.
Member
2012 - £106 (GBP)
Persons associated with the scientific and technical aspects of brewing, fermentation, distillation and related industries, whose interest is in furthering the Mission Statement of the IBD. Within this category, certain members may use IBD post nominals:
Dipl.Brew - Any member who has completed the Diploma in Brewing Examinations.
Dipl.Distill - Any member who has completed the Diploma in Distilling Examinations.
M.Brew - Any member who has completed the Master Brewer Examinations.
Student Member
2011 - £38 (GBP)
2012 - £38 (GBP)
Members in full time study in the brewing, fermentation, distilling, or associated industries or in academic study related to those industries, who can verify their full time student status from their place of learning.
Senior Member
An IBG grade maintained as a closed membership.
Corporate Membership
2011 - £206 (GBP)
2012 - £212 (GBP)
Available to companies, firms, establishments and individuals involved in business relevant to the brewing, distilling and associated industries.

Discounted subscription rates are available to the following members:
Member in Retirement
2011 - £38 (GBP)
2012 - £38 (GBP)
Retired persons with not less than 20 years service to the IOB, IBG, IGB or IBD who have reached the age of 55 may apply for a reduced membership rate.
General Certificate Member
2011 - £70 (GBP) Please note half year rate now applies = £50
2012 - £72 (GBP)
A reduced rate is offered to those who pass the General Certificate in Brewing (GCB), General Certificate in Packaging (GCP) or General Certificate in Distilling (GCD) and then apply for membership. The reduced rate is available for the first three years of membership, after that time, the subscription level is automatically raised to full rate. Existing members of the IBD who apply to sit the GCB, GCP or GCD and pass are not eligible for the discounted rate.
Membership is free after 40 consecutive years of service to the IOB, IBG, IGB or IBD.
