The J S Hough Award

J S Hough Award Winner 2009/10 (for excellence in the IBD Master Brewer examinations)

Presentation/Prize:
The winner receives £1000 and an engraved quaiche. Usually presented at a relevant Section dinner or convention. If based outside the UK, the winner receives three days subsistence and accommodation for three nights. However, candidates organise and pay for their own travel or request their company do so.

Eligibility/Parameters:
Awarded to the highest distinction at M.Brew. This award is open to all M.Brew candidates. The Board of Examiners are responsible for selecting the winner, based on examination results.

Further Details Regarding the Award:

A trust was established in 1985 by the University of Birmingham, the aims of which are to invest the donations received to provide income for the James S Hough Prize. The J S Hough is awarded by the University of Birmingham, on the recommendation of the IBD Board of Examiners, for the Master Brewer (formerly the Diploma) examinations for the most outstanding performance. The residue of income is to be used to promote the academic, or applied interests, of the past and present students of the British School of Malting and Brewing at the University of Birmingham.

Criteria for James S Hough award winner:-

A recommendation for the James S Hough Award will be made by the IBD Board of Examiners for the candidate who achieves the highest pass in all four modules, plus the Case Study Paper, of the Master Brewer examination.
