Jobs

Chief Executive

Company: IBD

Role Type: Permanent, full-time

Location: London, SE1 (with potential for flexible working)

Salary: Circa £110,000 pa

Closing date: 09 May 2022

Brewing and distilling is where art, craft, science and engineering meet, and the Institute of Brewing & Distilling (IBD) is internationally recognised for its passion for improving the education and professional development of brewers and distillers around the world.

We’re offering you the opportunity to become our next Chief Executive, to drive our strategy to further develop our education offering; grow and retain our membership; and increase our footprint on the international stage.

Working closely with our President and Board of Trustees, you will ensure IBD is a thriving membership organisation, overseeing effective governance of its staff and resources, applying rigorous risk management and ensuring its robust financial health. Your visionary leadership will ensure the profession continues to flourish amidst the challenges and opportunities of a changing world.

With a strong track record in leading and delivering membership transformation and growth, you will have leadership experience within a professional membership organisation and a profound understanding of the role of professional bodies. Knowledge of the digital landscape and how it might effectively be used for membership engagement offers a distinct advantage, as does some knowledge and understanding of the chartership process.

You do not need to be a qualified brewer or distiller, but a good understanding of the role of science, technology and engineering in similar industries is advantageous.

A highly influential and strategic thinker, your excellent relationship-building and networking capabilities will ensure you identify new opportunities and drive forward initiatives that support the aims of IBD and further develop brewing and distilling as truly professional endeavours.

The role requires a high degree of tact, diplomacy and emotional intelligence, as well as resilience and flexibility. The Chief Executive will inspire trustees, staff and an entire profession from diverse backgrounds. A commitment to understanding and serving the interests of IBD members is essential.

The role is full-time. All staff are working in a hybrid fashion with some attendance at the London head office. The Chief Executive role is flexible in location but regular attendance at the London office is essential.

Established in 1886, the Institute of Brewing & Distilling provides excellence in technical education and networking for professional brewers and distillers and associated industries. The IBD is a global, not-for-profit charitable institution with c. 4,000 members across 90 countries.
