Dr Jerry Avis - Chief Executive Officer
Jerry completed his PhD in microbial chemistry at the University of Manchester and entered the brewing industry as a research scientist working on head retention and then fermentation control with Allied Breweries. Moving to Bass PLC, he became the Group Microbiologist before managing quality assurance for three breweries in the Bass Group.
After leaving the brewing industry for a number of senior operational roles in the water and waste industry and later running his own business, Jerry returned to Nottingham University to manage the delivery of a Food and Biofuel Innovation Centre, happily reconnecting with the food and drink industry as part of the role.
He worked at Lancaster University as Director of Business Partnerships for science and engineering prior to his current role of CEO of the IBD.
