THURSDAY, 18th August 2022

14:00 to 17:00 BST

The Scottish Section is delighted to invite you to a technical tour of both Clynelish & Brora Distilleries on the east coast of Sutherland.

This will be a superb opportunity to get a close look at the newly re-opened and refurbished Brora Distillery, silent since 1983.

With special emphasis on carbon neutrality, Brora Distillery has set up its mark in architecture and engineering with its stillhouse which was taken down and then rebuilt exactly as it was in 1819 but set to be a shining example of production modernity ready for the next two centuries.

Next door, at Clynelish Distillery, the Highland home of Johnnie Walker, you will discover how its rich, waxy whisky is created, carrying its notes of tropical fruit and honey, on this windswept coast of Sutherland in the Northern Highlands.

This trip is a fabulous chance to experience and examine the production, quality and sensory approaches and techniques of each closely-related, but very different single malt distilleries within a stone’s throw of each other.

This tour is suitable for anyone involved in single malt whisky production, engineering and sensory analysis, or with a general interest in malt distilling.

Why you should attend:

  • Gain exclusive access to the highly demanded Brora & Clynelish Distilleries to experience first-hand their production process
  • Learn about engineering, quality and sensory approaches to single malt distilleries
  • Network with like-minded peers
