Join the IBD Great Northern Section and enjoy a summer walk in Seaham or Penshaw in this social gathering to promote member networking and fellowship.

The event is open to members, guests, partners, family, and friends, and is not a high-level walking weekend. Come along for one or both days, make a weekend of it with a Saturday evening Brewery visit! Sunday will be a relatively easy walk.

Schedule:

Please wear suitable footwear as the paths can be muddy following heavy rainfall.

  • Saturday, 8 June - DAY
    • Meet at 09.45 for a prompt 10.00 start
    • Location address: Nose’s Point car park, Seaham (SR7 7PP - £3 all day parking charge)
    • Bring a packed lunch.
    • The walk is a circular 7 mile route which follows the coastal path before heading through wooded denes and along a disused railway path.
  • Saturday, 8 June - EVENING
    • Meet at 18.00 for a brewery tour and pizza!
    • Venue address: Maxim Brewery, 1 Gadwall Rd, Houghton le Spring DH4 5NL
  • Sunday, 9 June
    • Meet 09.45 for a prompt 10.00 start 
    • Location: address: foot of Penshaw Monument, DH4 7NJ off A183 (limited parking is available at the bottom of Penshaw Monument, but additional parking nearby at Herrington Country Park
    • The walk is a circular 4 mile route which takes in Penshaw Monument before passing through Penshaw then onto a disused railway track that leads to the River Wear.
