The Scottish Section invites members to a study tour in Argyll and Campbeltown, visiting 5 distilleries, 1 brewery and a floor malting. Those working in the brewing and distilling industry or anyone with a keen interest in Campbeltown and lowland whiskies are welcome to apply.

This is a 2 full day tour with transport, meals and hotel included.

Schedule:

Meet in Glasgow for a 2-day coach tour to Campbeltown and back.

  • Auchentoshan Distillery – Begin our trip in the Lowlands, in the only Scotch distillery to triple distil every drop.
  • Fyne Ales Brewery – We will focus on their original brewery where it all began and learn about the challenges facing a brewery in the current climate.
  • Springbank Distillery – Truly experience ‘grain to glass’ in the only distillery in Scotland to carry out 100% of the process on site, beginning in their very own floor maltings.
  • Glengyle Distillery – Go behind the scenes in the newest ‘old’ distillery in Campbeltown which is only in production 3 months of the year.
  • Glen Scotia Distillery – This distillery remains very traditional with much remaining unchanged from the 1830s including the mash tun, stillroom design and dunnage warehouse.
  • Beinn an Tuirc Distillery – Focus on sustainably produced spirits in Kintyre, discussing their hydroelectricity, water source and tree plantation whilst enjoying the wide range of gin, rum and liqueurs all made on site.

Why You Should Attend:

  • Enjoy tours of varied sites; including a malting plant, distilleries, maturation warehouses, compare small-scale and large-scale production sites, see traditional and modern practices in action, learn about whisky, beer, gin, rum and liqueurs.
  • Distillery Managers, Brewers and Distillers on-hand for technical questions and discussions.
  • Great for networking in the brewing and distilling industry - spend time with likeminded people with all of the trip organisation taken care of.
