Join this webinar to discover the genetic technologies and resources to promote barley as both "crop and model" for the research and commercial sectors.

Professor Robbie Waugh, the newly appointed director of the International Barley Hub, will describe the journey to establishing this important research facility within the James Hutton Institute, the kind of science that will be conducted there and the impact for the brewing, distilling and other food industries.

Robbie has made major contributions to the development and exploitation of genetic technologies and genetic resources that promote barley as both a ‘crop and model’ for the research and commercial sectors.

As an early adopter of genomics and informatics technologies, he continues to develop a range of practical tools and informational resources that pervade global basic and applied barley genetics research.

He exploits these platforms widely for genetic analyses and gene isolation and characterization, largely focusing on aspects of natural morphological or developmental diversity and adaptive traits. He maintains strong links with end use sector.

Robbie’s research is widely referenced, having published over 300 peer-reviewed scientific papers with 98 of these cited between 100 and 1500 times. He is the Scientific Director of the IBH.
