Starting in Prague and visiting Budweiser Budvar, Pilsner Urquell and Staropramen Brewery in Prague

Calling IBD UK Section members!

You are invited to participate in a European Brewery Study Tour in the Czech Republic, a trip that will be preceded by the Brewers of Europe Forum that takes place in Prague from 21 - 23 May 2023 if you are planning to attend this trade show.

The tour will be starting in Prague on Wednesday 24th and the brewery visits schedule is as follows:

Participate in this fantastic practical learning trip to share experience and knowledge with European brewers, while relaxing, socialising, mentoring and coaching in an international environment. 

The Southern Section will be providing:

  • Transfers from and to the airport on Wednesday morning and Friday with all connections included.
  • Brewery tours
  • Recommendations of hotels for the attendees to book for themselves. 
  • Dinners, beer sampling and networking with IBD members and hosts

Attendees will need to organise their own flights and accommodation. Hotel and accommodation are estimated to be between €350 - €450.


Important information for IBD student members, IBD members taking our qualifications, young IBD members and registered apprentices working in brewing or distilling.

The Southern Section can support you financially to attend this European trip: There are 4 bursaries (2 bursaries of £500, and 2 bursaries covering the whole cost of the trip). 

The criteria to be selected to receive one of these bursaries are:

  1. Must be an IBD member - student members, members taking the IBD exams, younger members, and registered apprentices
  2. Be part of a UK sections. Preference will be given to members from smaller brewers who cannot afford to pay for their trainees.
  3. Being the first to sign up for the tour and for the bursary
  4. The applicants will need to submit 250/500 words explaining the reason why they should be chosen for these bursaries 
  5. They will need to commit to giving a presentation at a section meeting and/or writing a BDI article

The Southern Section will announce the successful applicants and the level of economic support that they will receive  at the end of March
