The Scottish Section AGM will take place after the tour, followed by an interesting talk on about Ernest Shackleton and his once long-lost whisky that was found buried beneath a hut in Antarctica by explorers.

Please note that only IBD members are eligible to vote at the Annual General Meeting.

Safety Footwear is essential. Any other PPE will be provided.

  2. 18.00: Refreshments
  3. 18.30: Scottish Section AGM, Chair’s Report for 2022, Financial Statement 2022 and election of officers and committee members
  4. 19.00: Lecture ‘Shackleton’s Dram’
  5. 20.00: End

Speaker:

Ken Duncan, Scottish Section Secretary.

Ken has been brewing since 1977 in various continents, in breweries large and small, a wide variety of styles from ‘Boutique Beer’ in Australia, long before craft beer was invented, to Best Bitter, German Wheats, Czech Pilsners and Barrel-Aged Imperial Stouts. He is a Past Chair of the Scottish Section and is currently the Section Secretary, whilst in his day job manages all aspects of production at Fyne Ales.

His passion for the historic and modern, scientific and empirical knowledge in brewing and its allied trades has never ceased and in the past few years has manifested itself in researching breweries and distilleries of old with the aim of bringing these lost treasures to light. The evening lecture will focus upon Ernest Shackleton’s Whisky discovered under his Antarctic hut and its fascinating story.
