The new Castle Brewery Van Honsebrouck

It’s more than a century since a brewery of this size has been built in Belgium, but Xavier Van Honsebrouck, a family brewer of the fi fth generation, has now taken this bold step. In the small Flemish town of Izegem, West Flanders, the new Bierkasteel Van Honsebrouck brewery has been built on a greenfi eld site, with a capacity of 250,000 hectolitres – and it’s mightily impressive.

In advance of Brexit-driven international trade deals, it is good to see renewed cooperation between the two craft beer organisations in the US and UK – BA and SIBA – working towards some common goals.
