Mr Badger gets a new brewhouse - Hall & Woodhouse build a future with Musk Engineering

Dorset brewer Hall & Woodhouse installed its last brewhouse from Robert Morton in 1899. The budget was £20,000 but it ended up costing £28,000. Current Managing Director Anthony Woodhouse told the project team for its replacement that, in 2011, a £8,000 overspend might be acceptable but 40%was certainly not!

Musk seems to be the UK brewhouse fabricator of choice at the moment. In quick succession there have been brew plants at Moorhouse’s, St Austell, the recently commissioned £2 million Hall and Woodhouse brewhouse and FV project with Musk’s first lauter tun. Then later this year there is a 80brl plant at Wye Valley. With such activity and the fact that the company is located at Swadlincote just outside Burton on Trent, I went along to discover what was behind its current success.
